In Lords of the Fallen, the game released in 2023, choosing your class is one of the first decisions you have to make. You can choose between up to 13 different character classes. While a class like the “Condemned” makes the game more difficult, there are some classes that are particularly suitable for beginners.
Learn which classes there are, what the best class is to start with, and what makes the different classes different in our Lords of the Fallen Class Guide.
The best class for Lords of the Fallen is Orian Preacher as a spellcaster and the Hallowed Knight as a melee fighter. If you own the Deluxe Edition, Dark Crusader is a very powerful class to start with in Lords of the Fallen.
Lords of the Fallen features a total of up to 13 classes that you can choose between when creating your character. We already have details about the following 10 classes:
The Hallowed Knight is a very good all-round character. He starts with 15 Stamina, which is the highest starting stamina of any class. With more stamina, you can dodge, run, and attack more often in Lords of the Fallen.
Additionally, the Hallowed Knight has the best shield and second-best physical defense of all classes. This makes the Hallowed Knight a very robust starter class that can be used for almost all build archetypes later on.
AdThe Udirangr Warwolf starts with the highest strength value in the game. Additionally, he has the heaviest weapons you can start with in Lords of the Fallen. This means the Udirangr Warwolf hits a little slower with its starter weapon, but does the highest damage per hit.
The Udirangr Warwolf also starts with a slightly higher Dexterity value. Since sufficiently high Strength and Dexterity values are required for melee weapons, the Udirangr Warwolf has a wide range of weapons to use – especially at the beginning of the game. This makes the Udirangr Warwolf ideal for offensive melee builds. If you like blocking attacks, using magic, or using ranged weapons, the Udirangr Warwolf is not for you.
The Partisan has the most even distribution of starting attributes of all classes in terms of Strength, Dexterity, Vitality, and Stamina. The Partisan uses a flail and a shield as starter equipment. As a ranged weapon he is equipped with a crossbow, which he can fire up to 5 times before he has to recharge it.
The flail deals area damage in a small radius but has a slightly shorter range. The defensive is the second best to start, after the Holy Warrior.
The Mournstead Infantry is similar to the Partisan but has a slightly higher focus on skill. Equipped with a spear as a starter weapon. The spear is a particularly long-ranged weapon. You can hit multiple enemies with one spear as long as they are standing behind each other. The starter shield of the Mournstead Infantry, however, is weaker than the shield of the Oartisan or Holy Knight.
The Mournstead Infantry uses a javelin as a ranged weapon. Without spending any additional attribute points, you can throw up to 4 javelins before having to recharge your “ammo”. Overall, the Mournstead Infantry is a very good choice for melee combatants with a focus on skill. This class is not ideal for spellcasters.
AdThe Blackfeather Ranger starts the game with an axe, a shield, and a bow. Overall, the Blackfield Ranger has fewer attribute points at the start of the game than most other classes. This makes him a little harder to play at the very beginning of a playthrough.
Like the previous classes, this class focuses on close combat. Dexterity is his highest starting attribute. Because the bow requires little ammo, the Blackfeather Ranger can shoot up to 8 arrows before needing to refill its ammo.
The Exiled Stalker starts with the highest skill value of all classes. This class has 2 daggers as starting weapons, making it the only class that starts with two weapons (dual-wielding). As a ranged weapon you use throwing knives that make enemies bleed.
The Exiled Stalker is ideal for characters that play with two weapons and very fast attacks. With low defense, this class relies on quick evasion. Since both main and off-hand weapons can add status effects, the Banished Reactor is an ideal starter class for builds that rely on status effects.
The Orian Preacher starts with the highest starting value in the Holy attribute. If you choose this class, you start immediately with an offensive spell that deals Holy damage to opponents. You’ll carry a hammer and a small shield as weapons.
AdThe Pyric Cultist has the highest starting value of all classes in the attribute “Inferno”. This makes it an excellent class if you want to focus on fire spells in Lords of the Fallen. As a weapon, the Pyric Cultist starts with a scythe, which also deals fire damage.
The Condemned starts the game at level 1. This means that this class starts with significantly fewer attribute points than all other classes. In addition, the damned man only has a wooden bucket as a weapon. This class is only suitable for very advanced players. The advantage of the Damned is that you have the most flexibility in how you distribute your attribute points in a later Respec.
The Dark Crusader can only be selected if you’ve purchased the Deluxe Edition of Lords of the Fallen. Without the Deluxe Edition, you can also unlock the Dark Crusader later in your playthrough. Initially, you have to start with a different class in order to get far enough in the game.
The Dark Crusader starts at level 14. This is the highest starting level among all classes and therefore grants the highest number of attribute points at the start of the game. This class has the highest starting value in vitality and the highest physical defense in the game, which makes the crusader particularly suitable for close combat.
The class must be unlocked. (Unlockable via the Deluxe Edition or in-game.)
The class you choose is important in Lords of the Fallen, especially at the beginning of the game. Your choice of class in Lords of the Fallen has the following 3 effects on your game:
As the game progresses, you will also find equipment from other classes and receive additional attribute points that you can distribute. This allows you to achieve any playstyle imaginable in Lords of the Fallen with any class. This means that the initial choice of class becomes less important as the game progresses.
However, in order to reach the absolute maximum potential of your character, you must keep in mind that even with a respec in Lord of the Fallen you cannot fall below the starter attributes. So if you choose a class with, for example, a starting strength value of 15, but play a character build in Lords of the Fallen that doesn’t require strength, you cannot redistribute these 15 strength points into an attribute that is more useful to you. The character will always have at least 15 points in strength. A class with fewer points in strength would have been a better choice for you.
In Lords of the Fallen, there are a total of 4 classes that can be unlocked in the game. One of them is the Dark Crusader, which can also be obtained via the Deluxe Edition. The remaining 3 classes can only be unlocked through the game itself. With the 9 base classes and 4 unlockable classes, there is a total of 13 classes in Lords of the Fallen 2.
These classes have not yet been fully confirmed, but are believed to be the following 4 classes:
We’ll add these classes with descriptions and unlock guides as soon as we know more.
